with UAV-based Last-mile Geolocation

QS RF Locator enhances traditional geolocation workflows by providing efficient UAV-based last-mile geolocation – narrowing down broad interference zones spanning hundreds of square kilometers down to highly precise areas as 100 x 100 meters.

The solution initially utilizes signal data from satellite operators, and automatically defines a targeted flight area. It calculates optimal UAV launch positions based on signal characteristics, expected detection range, and surrounding terrain. These launch points are selected to perform angular scanning of the area, enabling detection from multiple spatial perspectives and increasing the likelihood of capturing the interference signal.

From the air, the system’s RF payload – equipped with a directional horn and gimbal – performs high-precision directional measurements in receive mode. The UAV sweeps across the target area, gathering data on signal presence, strength, and angle of arrival. After each measurement flight, the system’s software analyzes the collected data and dynamically recommends new launch points to optimize triangulation.

By following these recommendations and conducting a series of fully automated flights, operators are able to effectively narrow down the interference zone with minimal manual intervention. This agile, field-ready approach enables the fast and cost-effective geolocation of RF interference, even in complex or obstructed environments where ground-based solutions fall short.
